On the evening of 15 April 2023, one of the female cavers in the team exploring the Vranjedol cave near Dolenjska vas not far from Cerknica had a rock fall on her head when she was rising back to the surface.
Unconscious, she was immediately attended to by colleagues, one of whom rushed to report that a serious accident had occurred. The rescue, which started immediately and was watched with bated breath by the whole Slovenia, involved a variety of participants: cavers, civil protection, firefighters, scouts, medical team.
These selfless individuals, united by the same goal, managed to save the victim within 38 hours. Katarina Šeme's graphic novel tells the story of this incredible action.
The author was a member of the caving team that helped to bring the injured woman to the surface, and in addition to her own perspective, she includes the perspectives of two of those directly involved, a fellow caver and a nurse, thus offering a comprehensive view of what happened, which proved once again that we can do almost anything when we are united.
Katarina Šeme (1993) is an illustrator and a 2D computer animation artist.

After Indonesia she relocated to Brussels, where she continued to work as a graphic designer.
She established her own company after returning to Slovenia in 2020, and she has been working in the disciplines of animation and art ever since.
